Practising acupuncture can be a fascinating profession and it’s a privilege to work with people to help them improve their health. However, although the work is often rich and rewarding, there are many challenges which practitioners undoubtedly have to navigate during their careers. These demands can vary from managing patients with chronic and often complex health conditions, to navigating our practises as businesses making them financially viable, as well as being mindful of looking after our own energy so as to avoid burnout. It is common to feel overwhelmed by work at times and as acupuncturists often do not work as part of a team, many practitioners can sometimes feel isolated and in need of support.
Attending supervision can help practitioners to develop a reflective practise, where we check in with ourselves on a regular basis, noting what we’re struggling with, what we might wish to change or simply acknowledging the things we’re doing well. My supervision sessions provide relaxed, safe spaces for practitioners to receive support and to reflect upon and explore professional issues. The process is confidence building and empowering, whereby through gentle discussion and encouragement, practitioners can find solutions to challenging professional issues, gaining new insights and perspectives.
1:1 Supervision sessions:
These sessions allow more time for in-depth discussion, helping individuals to analyse issues in more detail. Sessions can be in person or via an online platform which suits you.
Group supervision sessions:
Groups are made up of peers who have been working for similar lengths of time. These sessions allow practitioners to make professional connections, share experiences, work through issues and challenges and have fun!
Emma has completed training with Isobel Cosgrove and Sally Blades and is on both the Supervision and Mentoring list of accredited Supervisors and the BAcC Supervision register.
If you would like more information on either 1:1 or group supervision, you are welcome to give me a call or send an email.
